Family Meetings

ObjectiveTo create a consistent dialogue between you and your children about what they and you are doing in you lives.
Description Family

Choose a time, (morning is best), where your family can sit down and talk about the things that are going on in your lives. It doesn't have to be exhaustive, just set aside 10-30 minutes to do the following:

  • Review your kids agenda books or day timers. What activities do they have on that day, do they have any big events at school are there any notes from their teacher etc.
  • Talk about up coming tests or projects that they have to do. This can also be a time to brainstorm with your kids about what they would like to do for a project or how they can make their project unique.
  • Talk briefly about what you are doing that day, major projects that you are working on, appointments or activities that you have and so on. It is important for you to model this for your children, if they see you doing it they will be less resistant to the idea.

Having a time to talk about what everyone is doing will make you feel more connected as a family and it will drastically improve your communication with your kids.
