|Objective||To teach children about sales tax.|
1. Every time you travel to another country, province or state take a look at how much you pay in taxes on the items your purchase. To have a really good comparison you may want to buy the same item in different places. For example, every time you travel you buy a Coca-Cola and keep the receipt.
2. Save your receipts and compare them to other places you have visited.
3. Once you have a few receipts for other places look at the amount of sales tax you paid on the item. What places were taxed higher? What places were taxed lower? Is the sales tax the same in different provinces/states in your country? If taxes are different in different parts of the same country - ask someone why that is!
Mark this activity as complete when you have compared the sales tax from 2 - 3 different places.
